Fall Knitting 2008

Again, from Aunt Betty, this pair of slippers.  Yes, those are crocheted.  I don't know that she has a pattern, she just makes them.....some people are so creative.  She gave these to me when I was there this past week - thanks Betty!

My Aunt Betty lives in Port Lavaca Texas.  She does a lot of crochet work and learned the craft from her mother.  While I was down visiting, my husband & I celebrated out 30th wedding anniversary, and she made us this afghan.  It's beautiful and I love it!  Thanks Betty~

ty!

More crochet.....this time from Lafayete California.  Welcome in Michele Hadley.....how about some Halloween??  How fun is this?  Patons Classic Merino Wool was used on this Felted Black Cat Bag HAPPY HALLOWEEN notice the crocheted pumpkin caps on top?

Here is an adorable sweater designed and crocheted by Kristin Gumpert.  The yarn used Cascade 220 and you can find Kristin on Moose Threads nice job Kristin~

Kim Boston of Poulsbo Washington made this unique scarf modeled by her daughter Sophie; it's called "Circles" and you can find the pattern in the book called Knitting New Scarves by Lynne Barr.  The yarn used was Berroco Peruvia - very interesting.....

Will ya look at these lil dudes.....it's Thomas Donaghay and his cousin Henry modeling the hats Mom & Auntie Melissa made out of Cascade 220 Tweed.  The Toasty Topper is courtesy of Knitty.com.  Way to go Melissa - now Thomas & Henry will be ready for the winter.  Melissa and Thomas live in Poulsbo Washington!

Sandee Sifferman from Kirkland Washington sent in this unique baby bonnet designed by Lucy Neatby and it's called Domino Baby Bonnet.  She made the hat out of Heart & Sole by Red Heart in the Mellow Stripe colorway.  Very interesting!  Contact your LYS for the pattern~

Here is an entry from The Churchmouse Yarns & Teas on Bainbridge Island, Washington.  This scarf is called the Longways Linen Stitch Scarf and it's made out of Koigu yarn.  I suppose you could make this scarf out of anything though and get different looks, but it's awefully pretty in the Koigu and the effect is beautiful.  Now, this is a shop pattern, so stop in and see the scarf in person, get your yarn and pick up the pattern.  Nice going Churchmouse and thanks for playing!

Do you all know that my day job is being a kitchen and bath designer?  Well, it's true and I have my own business renovating people kitchens and bathrooms.  I did a kitchen recently for Simon & Becky ffitch.  Becky has a day job too, but also teaches at The Churchmouse Yarns & Teas in her spare time in the evenings or sometimes on the weekends.  Well, in thanks for all the help on her kitchen, she made me these lovely socks, Country Girl Socks by HeartStrings FiberArtsThank you Becky for my socks.....

This hat is courtesy of The Artful Ewe of Port Gamble Washington - notice the beads??  Wouldn't you want to be wearing this lovely hat out and about; and what a gorgeous shade of blue!

My good friend Melissa Donaghay knit up this easy Peasy Scarf (hee hee) by Meg White.  Thank you Meg for your pattern!  Melissa used Paradiso yarn by The Cat's Meow.  The colors are fantastic for fall, enjoy wearing it~

Sherri Hughes of The Yarn Corner made this hat out of Cascade 220 yarn.  The pattern is from Interweave Knits 2006 Holiday issue.  This type of hat seems very popular now and I think she did a great job with the hat and the colors chosen.  Good job Sherri and if you are in the Aberbeen area of Washington state stop in and say hello to Sherri!

Now here are a couple of crazy girls.  Meet Melissa Donaghay and Kim Boston from Poulsbo Washington.  Here they are in their new scarves.  Melissa made the Corkscrew Spiral scarf out of Noro Silk Garden Lite and Kim made the Stacked Wedges from the Knitting New Scarves book. Kims scarf was knit out of Tonalita by Trendsetter.  Look for the Knitting New Scarves book by Lynne Barr at your LYS.

I was in the Churchmouse Yarns & Teas today at Noon, helping my friend Lynn shop for a new project to take down to California for the weekend.  I saw this lovely hat I wanted to share with you all.  This hat is entitled Fair Isle Banded Beret.  It's a shop pattern, so you'll have to stop in or call for the pattern. The yarn used was Jamieson's Shetland DK. It's pretty - very classy and tasteful I think. Nice job girls~

If you stop in to the Textile Arts Company you'll see this adorable felted bag.  The pattern belongs to Figheadh Yarnworks, and it's called the "Little Rudy Bag".   This particular bag was made using Louet Riverstone yarn and it's totally adorable.

Lynn Terry of Bainbridge Island Washington knit these sweet fingerless mitts.  The pattern is called "Pam's Knitting Gloves" and the pattern can be purchased from the Churchmouse Yarns & Teas on Bainbridge Island in the state of Washington.

Meet Christine Vogel of Edmonton Alberta Canada. She is a 36 year old stay at home Mom and also a great designer. She has been kind enough to share her beautiful scarf with us. Please check out her website and take a look at this pattern. This would make a beautiful holiday gift. Thank you Christine!

My good friend Chris Jackson of Poulsbo Washington made this beautiful summer cotton sweater from the Interweave k

Knits 2008 Summer magazine.  It's titled "Imprint Tank" by Sarah Hoadly and Chris used Universals Soleil yarn.  Nice job Chris.....

This is my husband Wes!  He's sporting a hat that I just finished for him.  We could be anywhere during the winter time (he isn't one to wear a hat of any kind ever) and he could be freezing and he'll say "I should buy a hat", and I'll say "oh, let me make you one".....this goes on and on from one winter to the next.  I decided I would make him a hat and keep it in our Jeep for those cold winter days/evenings when we are out and about.  The pattern I used is an Ann Norling pattern that I use repeatedley for hats; it's the Head Huggers - Pattern #55.  The yarn I used is hand painted yarn of Myra Hansens .

Happy Knitting~
