         Felting in February

This idea came from one of our readers, Anasuya over in Berkeley, California.  Doesn't this photo to the left just look like spring with those flowers and the colors in Erins' bag.  My friend Erin, who lives in Long Beach, California knit this bag.  The pattern is one of Leigh Radfords called Wobble Circles Tote.  You can find the pattern in the Interweave Knits Spring 2006 magazine.  Erin used many yarns on this bag from Cascade Yarns 2020, to Lamb's Pride Bulky, to Berroco's Hip Hop stranded with some Lamb's Pride Worsted.  All I can say is California is representing here from Berkeley to Long Beach - thanks ladies.  Spring here we come!

Susan lives in Orange, California, and she knit this fun "Felted Loopy Tote Bag" by Virginia Rowan Rokholt.  The pattern is a free pattern on the Lion Brand website, and Susan used Lion Brand Fishermen's Wool.  I LOVE IT!  The handles are fabulous too - nice work Susan~

Ida of New Jersey, knit Bev Galeskas Felted Clogs.  Bev is owner/operator of Fiber Trends patterns and US distributor for Naturally Yarns out of New Zealand.  The pattern number is AC-33, so you can ask for that at your LYS.  The yarn that Ida chose for this project is Patons Classic Merino.  I think these clogs are the most unique I've seen; simply artwork!  thank you Ida for participating.

Jen, here, is from Berkeley, California.  She knit and felted this Satchel by Stephanie Shiman.  Jen used Knit Picks Wool of the Andes yarn.  It looks like a book bag, and she's reinforced the straps and pocket by actual sewing.  It looks really good Jen - thanks for sharing your work, and also thanks to Knitty & Stephanie.

Carol Bristol is a resident of the state of Vermont.  This gal knows her felting, and she has a great website with some really nice designs.  What you are looking at here is the Essex Tote.  Carol has used Brown Sheep's Lamb's Pride Bulky for this bag.  It looks classy.  Please check out her website and all her designs.  Thank you Carol for participating - LOVE your work!!

Tina lives in Osseo, Minnesota.  she loves these felted bowls from Carol Bristol and Quick to Felt Gifts.  Tina says that this project is a great introduction into felting.  The yarn that Tina chose for this bowl is from Berroco, Jasper.  Tina's LYS is Amazing Thread's in Maple Grove, Minnesota.  Thank you Tina for sharing your work with us.

Jennifer over at Wild Fibers yarn shop in Mount Vernon sent this entry in.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE this owl - great job girls!!  The yarn used to make this little guy was Cascade Yarns Pastaza.  There was also a novelty yarn used on the wings that has escaped Jennifer's memory.  For the pattern to this cute creature click here.

MaryAnne comes to us from Baldwinsville, New York.  MaryAnne knit the Heart Felt Expressions (223 Fiber Trend) Coasters by Evelyn A. Clark.  The yarn that MaryAnne used is Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Bulky.  These are too cute for the month of February, with Valentines Day and all.  I love your creativity MaryAnne with all the colors, it looks like you really had fun making these.  Thanks for sharing your work!

This is a fun idea - it's a yoga bag.  You roll up your mat and tuck it inside for your class.  Leave it to Nicholette Hoyer, owner of Stitch Craft yarn shop out of Vancouver, Washington.  The yarn that Nicholette used is Manos Del Uruguay Wool Clasica.  If you like this pattern contact Nicholette from her website.  Thank you Nicholette for your inspiration.

Dawn lives in Lancaster, California and she has also felted a pair of clogs AC-33 by Bev Galeskas.  Dawn used Cascade Yarns 220 Wool.  Ask for these Fiber Trends patterns at your LYS.  You can read more about Dawn in her blog.  Thank you Dawn for participating.

Heidi is from Long Island, and she knit the Lucy Bag by Two Old Bags.  The yarn that Heidi chose is Cascade Yarns 220 Heathers.  This is very fun, and I love the flower - FLOWER POWER!  Heidi purchased her project at Knitch in Delafield Wisconsin, a sponsor of this site.  Thanks Heidi for sharing your work!

Bonnie lives in Montana, and she knit the Felted Clogs (AC-33) by Bev Galeskas and Fiber Trends.  The yarn that Bonnie used is Cascade Yarns 220 Wool.  These are classic!  Nice work Bonnie and thank for participating.

My friend Yvonne (one of the Wednesday night knitters), knit this fun hat from the book, Knit One Below: One Stitch, Many Fabrics by Elise Duvekot.  I saw this technique in the Knitters Magazine.....this may be our next KAL for all you Facebook kids.  The yarn Yvonne used is Cascade Yarn's 220 Wool.  It has a fun shape doesn't it?  Thanks Yvonne!

We are starting, again here in the West with Kim in Buckeye, Arizona.  Kim knit the Whiskey Felted Cap by Laura Irwin.  You can find this pattern in the book, Boutique Knits.....ask for it at your LYS.  The yarn used is Reynolds Whiskey.  That is a new yarn, I have never heard of before.  I'll have to keep a lookout for that one.  It's very cute Kim.  Thanks for participating.
